Extended vocal technique has been Alice Hui-Sheng Chang's main focus since end of 2003. She improvises with extended vocal technique in hope of evoking a psychological connection to the indescribable feelings. Her work explores various combinations of layering and interactivity of extended techniques, along with a focused relationship to soundscape and acoustic properties of the environment.
Alice was born in Changhua, Taiwan. She has been involved in residencies in Cite Internationale des Arts, Paris, France, Taipei Artists Village, Taiwan, CCA, Glasgow, UK and West Space Inc. Melbourne, Australia. She has performed or exhibited in Australia, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, UK and US.
